Free Areas Evaluation

Evaluation Criteria and Araea Identification

What are Free Areas?

A free area is understood to be an area that does not fit the characteristics outlined in Article 8 of Decree No. 9,406 of June 12, 2018 – Regulation of the Mining Code.

In short, free areas are those that can be acquired through a new application, that is, it is an area that is not encumbered.

The identification of these areas goes through a careful analysis of the data obtained in the mining cadastre, sigmine and other public electronic geographic data systems.

This step is highly recommended before making an area request, because the overlap with encumbered or blocked areas can generate drastic reductions in the areas of interest, suspension of the request analysis, or even rejection due to total interference with an area already encumbered.
