Area Reduction

Changing the Polygon Size and Shape

Area reduction is a procedure used to change the size and shape of the mining polygon.

This procedure can be used for a variety of reasons. The most common of these is to reduce the area in function of the surveyed area when submitting the final survey report.

Many times the mineral deposit is restricted to a certain region of the mining polygon. At the end of the mineral research it is possible to identify this region. The rest of the polygon that does not present favorable research data is usually discarded by the titleholder through the reduction procedure that keeps the polygon inserted only where the mineralized body is located.

This requirement can be applied to the phases of Authorization for Exploration, Licensing and Request for Mining.
