Mineral Licensing

Special Regime for Mineral Extraction

What is the Licensing Regime?

The licensing regime is a special regime for mineral use that is limited to certain substances, as follows:

Sand, gravel and gravel, when used in natura in civil construction and in the preparation of aggregate and mortars;
Silico-clayey material, gravel and gravel used as loan material;
Rocks, when prepared for paving stones, guides, gutters, grindstones or slabs for paving;
Rocks, when crushed for immediate use in civil construction and limestone used as soil correctives in agriculture;
Clays for various industries;
Ornamental and coating rocks;
Calcium and magnesium carbonates used in several industries.

Obtaining this title from the National Mining Agency is much quicker, since all the procedures take place in the regional managements. Besides this, it is not necessary to request a research permit, nor to present a final research report, simplifying and speeding up the start of the mining process.

On the other hand, it depends on the municipal license issued by the city hall, the landowner’s consent, and the environmental license.

Mineral exploitation by licensing is restricted to a maximum area of fifty hectares (50 ha), and is authorized exclusively for the landowner or whoever obtains express authorization from him.

Note: 1 ha (hectare) is equivalent to 10,000 m²
