Bahia prepares for the launch of the “Mineral Commodities Valley” by CBPM and CVP

Representatives from the Companhia Baiana de Pesquisa Mineral (CBPM) and the Companhia Vale do Paramirim (CVP) gathered to discuss the creation of the “Mineral Commodities Valley” in the southwest of the state of Bahia, covering 32 Bahian municipalities.

The initiative was presented by geologist and entrepreneur João Cavalcanti, director of CVP, in a meeting attended by CBPM President Henrique Carballal and Technical Director Manoel Barretto.

The Mineral Commodities Valley is a promising proposal aimed at harnessing the vast mineral potential of the region, which already houses operating iron mines, magnesite deposits, and uranium.

Furthermore, the initiative also aims to incorporate new discoveries, such as lithium, aluminum, and graphene, the latter being crucial in the production of batteries for electric vehicles.

João Cavalcanti emphasized the importance of the proposal, drawing a parallel with the successful “Lithium Valley” in Minas Gerais:

Just as the government of Minas Gerais launched the Lithium Valley, I am proposing the launch of the Mineral Commodities Valley in the structure of CBPM, in the southwestern region of Bahia, which is a large area with high potential.

The initiative aims to establish Bahia as a significant hub in the mining industry and boost the local economy by harnessing its rich mineral potential.

With the support of CBPM and the experience of CVP, the “Mineral Commodities Valley” promises to become a milestone in the development of the mining industry in Brazil.
