Raul Jungmann, President-Director of IBRAM, Passed Away

The Brazilian mining sector received news this Sunday (January 18th) of the passing of Raul Jungmann, president-director of the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), at the age of 73. His death occurred in Brasília, due to complications from a pancreatic cancer he had been battling for years.

Jungmann took over the presidency of IBRAM in 2022. With a career in public life spanning more than five decades, the Pernambuco native gained national prominence, serving three terms as a federal deputy and heading ministries in different administrations.

In an official statement, the president of IBRAM’s Board of Directors, Ana Sanches, stated that Jungmann’s leadership at the institute was conducted during a decisive period, marked “by dialogue, strategic vision, and integrity.”

Fulfilling a wish of Jungmann himself, the wake will be held in a private ceremony for family and close friends.
