The National Mining Agency (ANM) has released the “Easy REPEM Guide,” a resource designed to simplify access to Mineral Prospecting Authorization procedures via the Electronic Mineral Prospecting Application (REPEM) system. This publication aims to make regulatory tenements more comprehensible, in accordance with ANM Resolution No. 119/2022.
The “Easy REPEM Guide” was developed to guide users through all stages of the tenement, from registration on the gov.br portal to the submission of geographical coordinates for the area of interest, including filling out the application and generating payment slips. The clarity of the language and the use of graphic resources aim to facilitate the execution of procedures. This approach seeks to optimize applicants’ interaction with the system, contributing to the effectiveness of ANM’s regulatory tenements.
The REPEM system allows applicants to electronically delineate the prospecting area, enabling the approval of applications for unencumbered areas within 34 days. This timeframe includes 30 days for compliance with item III of Article 18 of the Mining Code and the subsequent four days for publication in the Official Gazette of the Union.
In situations involving areas with interferences, the application is forwarded for specific analysis by ANM’s area control, without the 34-day period. Responsibility for the information provided rests entirely with the applicants, as per the penalties outlined in Article 299 of Decree-Law No. 2,848/1940 – Penal Code. The simplification of tenements allows ANM to direct efforts toward inspection, verifying the consistency between documentary data and field activities.
